The collection of 24 tracked vehicles comprises tanks, self-propelled guns, engineering vehicles, armoured personnel carriers and amphibious vehicles, documenting the periods of the Second World War and the Cold War. Visitors are particularly struck by the battle scars, such as armour penetrations, bullet ricochets and blast marks, which can be seen, for example, on the wrecked SU-152 and SU-85 self-propelled guns by the River Oder. The two examples of the aforementioned SU-152 guns, the legendary ‘beast-killers’, are the pride of our armoured collection, as only three such vehicles have survived to the present day worldwide.
In the post-war section, we present the T-34-85, T-55 and T-72 tanks manufactured in Poland, as well as specialist vehicles such as the rare WPT-34 technical recovery vehicle, the WZT-1 technical security vehicle and the D-350 Mazur artillery tractor. Thanks to the work of museum staff and volunteers, some of these vehicles are in working order and are showcased in a dynamic manner at museum events such as the Tank Crew Picnic. At present, the fleet of operational tracked vehicles comprises: a T-72 tank, two GSP-55 half-tracks, and a 2K11 Krug missile launcher and guidance station.
The collection is complemented by vehicle components brought from training grounds and military units, such as the turret of an IS-2 tank and the only T-62 tank gun in Poland.
