The Lubuskie Military Museum
in Zielona Góra, based in Drzonów
is carrying out the project:
“Modernisation of the permanent exhibition ‘The Polish Soldier 1914–1945’
to mark the centenary of the Restoration of Independence”
Co-funded by the
Minister of Culture and National Heritage from
the Culture Promotion Fund

As part of the project ‘Modernisation of the permanent exhibition “Polish Soldier 1914–1945…”’, work is currently underway to install modern and secure display cases. The old exhibition has been dismantled and the hall renovated (the walls have been painted and the floors refurbished).
The project will enable the creation of a new layout for the permanent exhibition, enhanced with modern media, and the introduction of a narrative that will shape visitors’ historical awareness. The display cases, constructed in accordance with current standards, will improve the security of the exhibited collections, including firearms, and allow for a more attractive presentation. The backdrop, and at the same time a medium of communication, will be large-format prints made from digital copies of archival photographs from our collections. The prints will be placed on the rear walls of the display cases.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a richly illustrated catalogue.
The modernised exhibition will present the following thematic sections:
- Polish military activity in World War I and the period of independence and the fights for the borders of 1914-1921;
- The Polish Army of the Second Polish Republic (this section will highlight, among other things, Polish Vis pistols. Our collection includes a unique Vis wz. 32 pistol from the prototype series);
- The Defensive War of 1939;
- The Polish Armed Forces in the West and the equipment of the Allied forces;
- The participation of Polish pilots in World War II;
- The Battle of Monte Cassino;
- The Polish Underground State and the Warsaw Uprising;
- Military equipment and armament of the Axis Powers;
- The Polish People’s Army and its participation in the Soviet offensive of 1944-1945;
- Women soldiers.
