Current projects – 2025

Since the start of the year, our association’s board has submitted numerous applications for funding for various initiatives. Many of these have secured funding and are either already underway or will begin shortly!
Here is an overview of the projects:

Celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the Lubuskie Military Museum

As part of this project, we organised the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the independent operation of the Lubuskie Military Museum in Zielona Góra, based in Drzonów.
Over 100 people attended the event, which took place on 8 May 2025. The programme included official speeches, a cannon salute, a tribute to Dr Włodzimierz Kwaśniewicz – the museum’s founder, who passed away this year – and the launch of the book Forty Reasons to Visit the Lubuskie Military Museum on its 40th Anniversary 1985–2025.

The 19th Night of Museums in Drzonów to mark the 40th anniversary of the Lubuskie Military Museum

As part of the project, we organised the latest edition of the Night of Museums on Saturday 17 May 2025. Despite the rainy weather, we managed to carry out all the items on the programme, and several hundred visitors came to the museum.

The ‘Rowerowa Niepodległa’ Cycle Rally 2025

On 11 November 2025, the next edition of the ‘Rowerowa Niepodległa’ Cycle Rally will set off from Zielona Góra to Drzonów. As part of this project, we will also organise an art competition entitled ‘Paths to Independence’.
Funding: Lubuskie Province (we have submitted an application to Świdnica Municipality for the own contribution required to run the competition)

Training in the conservation of exhibits

The project involves delivering theoretical and practical training for new members of the volunteer group working on behalf of the Lubuskie Military Museum. The training will focus on the conservation of exhibits. There will be a total of three sessions: one theoretical and two practical. The theoretical part will cover the legal basis for working with exhibits and the functioning of the volunteer scheme, best practices in exhibit conservation, and the health and safety values and principles applicable within our group. The practical part will involve carrying out simple conservation work on museum exhibits of heavy military equipment. It is worth noting that this project was initiated and is being carried out by an informal group of our wonderful volunteers!

Developing Volunteering at the Lubuskie Military Museum

The project aims to comprehensively develop volunteering in support of the Lubuskie Military Museum (its collections, cultural activities, promotion, etc.) and the statutory activities of our association. This is the third year of the project. This year, we plan, amongst other things, a study trip, the implementation of four grants for volunteering initiatives, training sessions, and the purchase of materials and tools.
