We have just come through a busy period for our volunteers, who have carried out a range of diverse initiatives during this time and, since the start of the year, have clocked up a total of over 300 hours recorded in the volunteer management system.
So what have we been working on? Winter and early spring naturally mean tidying up the museum park: raking leaves, whitewashing walls, cleaning exhibits, and so on. We received strong support in these tasks from the interns of the Lubuska Exploration Group “Nadodrze”, who, to join the ranks of this association, must pass a sort of trial and, amongst other things, get involved in volunteering for the museums cooperating with “Nadodrze”. Interestingly, a couple of trainees travelled all the way from Belgium and western Germany to work at the museum.
A truly exceptional undertaking by our volunteers was the modernisation of the museum’s internet network, thanks to which LMW staff can finally work using fast and stable internet.
Our ‘mechanic’ volunteers haven’t been idle over the winter either. Among other things, we’ve carried out an inspection and first start-up of the BTR-152 armoured personnel carrier, restored the electrical and hydraulic systems on the GSP-55 semi-submersible, repainted the doors of the UAZ, and sourced parts for a new project, which we’ll be writing about in due course.
Krzysztof, a fortifications enthusiast and expert, and a former employee of the Lubuskie Military Museum, has joined our team. He has carried out research and restored the firing panel from the armoured barn in Różanówek.
Meanwhile, the model-making enthusiasts in our group have donated further working models of armoured personnel carriers to the museum, which will be used to promote the museum and to enrich its educational programme. They are also working hard on organising the 1st Model-Making Picnic at the Lubuskie Military Museum, which will take place on 2 May 2024!

We are expanding our volunteering activities through the “WoW in NGOs” project
