Cycle Rally

‘Rowerowa Niepodległa’ is an event with a well-established tradition spanning over a decade, organised by the Lubuskie Military Museum without interruption since 2013. Every year, on 11 November at 11:11 am, a colourful and large procession of cyclists sets off from Zielona Góra to celebrate National Independence Day in a unique, active and community-spirited way.

The ride is attended by cycling enthusiasts of all ages – from the youngest to the elderly – who cycle through the city streets together, carrying a patriotic message and inviting residents to join in the celebrations. The finish line is at the Lubuskie Military Museum in Drzonów, where participants sing the national anthem and can then explore the museum’s exhibitions.

To mark the ‘Cycling Independence’ event, the museum is also preparing additional historical attractions, organised in collaboration with historical re-enactment groups, which bring the events related to the struggle for Poland’s independence to life in an accessible way. Another key element of the celebrations is the announcement of the winners of the provincial art competition “Paths to Independence”, aimed at primary school pupils, and the opening of a post-competition exhibition showcasing the winning and commended entries.

“Rowerowa Niepodległa” is a blend of history, sport and local community – an event that demonstrates that the memory of independence can be nurtured actively, as a family and with genuine commitment.
