Invitation to the 19th European Night of Museums in Drzonów

The event, taking place on Saturday 17 May 2025 from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm, will mark the 40th anniversary of the Lubuskie Military Museum and the millennium of the Polish Crown. This time, the programme will feature plenty of music and dancing, interspersed with knightly displays and light and music shows.
We will kick things off with a bang and a two-part concert by the Military Band from Żagań. In the first part, we will hear the most famous Polish marches and military pieces, and in the second, tunes from popular music. Military songs will also be performed by the ‘Soundblast’ vocal group, affiliated with the 5th Sapper Battalion Club in Krosno Odrzańskie.
Next, on the stage in Drzonów, we will see a showcase of traditional and national Polish dances performed by the Lubuskie Song and Dance Ensemble.

At the historical and military museum, a performance of the krakowiak – a war-themed dance originating from the Kraków region, which gained great popularity among the Polish nobility and was already danced at the court of King Władysław Jagiełło – will take on special significance. There will also be the kujawiak and oberek, dances from Lower Silesia and folk songs from Lublin, and to round it all off, a polonaise danced together with the audience. The dance programme will be complemented by a display of medieval court and knightly dances performed by the ‘Syrokomla’ Knights’ Brotherhood.

The “Syrokomla” Brotherhood will also present a display of knightly combat and courtly customs, offering a wealth of knowledge and a good sense of humour. In the evening, our visitors will also be able to admire the extraordinary illumination of the outdoor exhibits of heavy military equipment or take part in a guided tour with torches. Also worth seeing are the new temporary exhibitions “They Reached Berlin”, “40 Years of the Lubuskie Military Museum” and “The History of the Museum Captured in Posters”. As we celebrate the museum’s anniversary, we will also honour the memory of Dr Włodzimierz Kwaśniewicz, who passed away this year – the founder and long-standing director of the institution.

A military village will be set up at the event, where the Polish Army will display its equipment. This will include, amongst others, the ROSOMAK armoured personnel carrier, the WR-40 Langusta rocket launcher, the Polish Hibneryt self-propelled anti-aircraft system, the ZUR-23 artillery-rocket system, as well as a police van and an accident simulator from the Żagań Military Police. Children will be able to take part in the ‘Little Sapper’ outdoor game. There will also be plenty of market stalls and food outlets.

The event will conclude with a spectacular ‘S-75 Dźwina’ light and music show, during which we will demonstrate the operation of an anti-aircraft missile launcher.
